"Eremition is the intentional act of withdrawing from society to seek solitude, personal reflection, and renewal.
This album is a peek into the mind of an independent rapper in his early 30's who chose to put a pause on continuing to tour and play local shows consistently in order to become a step-father while building a family with a woman he loves, move from subtropical islands south of Georgia to the cold mountains of upstate New York, and undergo therapy for the first time in a decade in order to become a better version of himself, all while to survive the hellscape of a collapsing 'AmeriKKKa' amidst the genocide, radical nationalism, slowly-growing resource wars, & emboldened fascism that currently blankets the world.
This record was being worked on from Fall of 2025 til Spring of 2026 in the midst of school-schedules, custody battles, meal-planning & laundromat trips, all the while ICE raids, potential world-wars, and Governmental Corruption to unfathomable levels play a discordant backdrop. And on the horizon is Love, fighting for it's life as violently as it can.
This is a reflection of the tumultuous times we live in and the glorious joy of passing lessons on to the youth we raise and influence.
Blood, Sweat, & Tears poured viscerally into the drum pads of my sp404 to push these boundaries into their proper positions. I left home in the the sandy, humid, subtropical south to find home in the cold northern mountains, and learned that home needed to be restructured and rebuilt. Therapy was my sledgehammer, my family is a new foundation, and I'm learning how to be a carpenter.
(I almost named the album that. It's one of my favorite Aesop Rock songs, and I've been playing with the idea of naming an album after it. Maybe another time in the future I will.)
I climbed up the mountain to reconnect with what matters most to me, and found out that I'm not who I thought I was. So I had to draw stronger boundaries for myself while reframing the questions I was asking for answers to. There's no more a dire time than this to make space to understand yourself and find your center, for a man who stands for nothing will fall for anything. Let your strength and your discernment guide your knowledge into wisdom. And don't be afraid to ask for help."
